Peter Gene Hernandez, more commonly known as Bruno Mars, was born and raised in the beautiful resort city of Honolulu, Hawaii. Ever since childhood, he has been associated to a family of musicians, as he began making music as a juvenile. After he proved his mettle in Hawaii, he decided to move to Los Angeles upon graduating from high school. The Smeezingtons was his first band, but that was just a humble beginning to an electrifying career…

Mars had a rather unsuccessful and low profile run with Motown Records. In 2009 he decided to sign with the famous Atlantic Records and quite instantly the tides changed as the whole world got to hear his fresh and unique vocals. Songs like Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire” and B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You “featured his back vocals, which were hip and brilliant. Flo Rida’s super hit “Right Round” which also featured the charismatic Ke$ha was co-written by Mars, and so was in K’naan’s “Wavin’ Flag”. 2010 was definitely the breakthrough year for Bruno Mars, as he came up with his debut album titled Doo-Wops & Hooligans. This first coming was a massive hit and featured hits like “Grenade” and “Just the Way You Are”. Peaking at number three on the Billboard 200, this album showed that Mars is the coolest thing that happened as 2000s came to an end. He was nominated for a whopping seven Grammys at the 53rd Grammy Awards, winning for the single “Just the Way You Are” in Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category.

There are different influences as well as styles in the music produced by Bruno Mars. Elements from various genres are evident in these songs as well as a slight touch of Hawaiian music inspiration. He is also acclaimed to have worked with scores of different artists and this has all had immense influence on his music. HE has many times stated that his childhood inspirations included Elvis Presley, Little Richard and the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. HE would impersonate these artists and that is why he has ended up being a wonderful entertainer in the live events and videos.

The New York Times has also referred to Bruno Mars as being one of the most versatile artists of our times and it is his versatility that has been increasing his fan base by a huge margin each month. It is the Bruno Mars revolution and he is one of the few artists that are promoting pluralism in world music.
